I dont listen to Stryper due to moral issues I have heard with them. I have heard there is a "new" Stryper without the baggage. I hope that is true.

But yes in my opinion the best Christian music I have ever heard (excepting praise and worship songs) was written by Bob Hartman of Petra.

I've never heard any baggage about anyone from Stryper...

and... and... maybe you just like hair metal... I dunno... I haven't heard any Petra that was better than "tolerable"...

Hair metal?
hair metal = the style that Stryper, Petra, & Whiteheart play...

similar stylistically to bands like Motley Crue, Poison, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Def Leaport, etc...

me? I like all kinds of stuff, but my fave is death/black metal and screamo and other hardcore styles... Stuff like Demon Hunter, Underoath, Chasing Victory, Haste the Day, Emery, etc... I also like stuff that is somewhat mellower than that like Skillet, Pillar, Thousand Foot Krutch, Day of Fire, and the Classic Crime...

Hmmm. So Petra and Whiteheart are "hair metal". In the time I was going to concerts I never heard that phrase. Care to explain what it means?

Of the bands you mentioned I have heard one song by Skillet and thats it. So it would be hard for me to judge how I like any of them.

However when you say you like Black Metal it is my understanding that deals with demonic themes. If thats true why would you like it?

its hair/glam rock... They're stylistically similar to those bands... Its just a classification... It gets the hair name because the bands that played it typically had long hair... (see: GnR, Poison, Motley Crue, etc., etc.)

Black metal is not really demonic...

It is an extreme heavy metal subgenre charicterized by the use of heavily-distorted guitars, high-pitched shrieking vocals, fast-paced rhythms and melodies and unconventional song-structures... OK, that's not them... lol... everything but the high-pitched fits... let me look some other stuff up...

Looks like they are being considered "Metalcore"...

Metal Core is a "fusion" genre combining elements of Extreme Metal and Hardcore punks...

wikipedia sub-article on Christian Metalcore: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christi...tian_metalcore
wikipedia article (a full one) on Christian metal:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_metal
list of Christian metal bands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...an_metal_bands (I've heard of maybe half of these lol)

Ones to check out, though (in alphabetical order like the list):
As I Lay Dying
August Burns Red
Becoming the Archetype
Bride
Demon Hunter
Figure Four
Haste the Day
Living Sacrifice (THE Christian Metal band.. that article said Stryper was the first one, but the first major one in real metal was Living Sacrifice)
Mortification
Norma Jean
Red
The Showdown
Tourniquet
UnderOath

those are the ones I know some of... all are decent, some are better than others... if you like really really really (have I mentioned REALLY) hard music, check 'em out...
