Newt has a ton of baggage with his divorcing his wife while she was being treated for cancer doesn't he?

Now, now... she wanted to leave him as well. The "in the hospital with cancer when he served her with papers..." thing is the tabloid hyperbole.

While I personally wish that he and she had not divorced, just based upon my own principles, the whole thing was really much more amicable then the Democratic Party spin.

I enjoy Newt's intelect but he has way too muchy baggage to be a successful canidate.

Here is am an who while championing family values was having an affair with a woman in Washington he divorced his wife for and married.

This is also a man who while his wife was being treated for cancer asked her for a divorce.

To me, as much as like his mind, that is just too much personal poor judgement for him to hold high office.

I do like the Fred Thompson part though!!! I am going to try and go to Lawrenceburg, TN this Saturday night for a big homecoming rally for him. That is his birthplace. He is supposed to be there about 7 pm.

I don't think Newt could be president even if he was still married to his first wife and all. But like you, I like many of his ideas and I think he needs to be in there somewhere throwing out those ideas.

Despite his partisan rap he also has had great success in getting both parties to work together as well.

I'm leaning the same way you are right now. Fred and some other guy - maybe Rudy? with Newt serving as the "evil" Karl Rove-like force behind the scenes.

I think your idea of Newt operating behind the scenes is a good one. He is smart and could possibly be a good strategist although I am disappointed that in recent days he has turned against the President.

I will not forgive any Repulbican who turns against GWB strictly out of sticking their finger in the air and trying to blow with the current public opinon to help their political chances in 08.

Right is right and wrong is wrong no matter how little patience the American people have. The Dems rush to get out of Iraq will cause a catastrophe in the Middle East and if they do get their way it should be on their own without any Republican help so when it all falls apart they will pay the political price.
