Hmm ... not sure where you got that I was a Hillary supporter.
I'm not NECESSARILY.
At this stage, I could vote for anyone from Fred Thompson to Hillary Clinton.
To me, I think illegal immigration is the biggest single issue in the country today and NO candidate is really stepping up to face it.
Now politically I am still a registered Republican though the older I get the more Libertarian I get.
No, I am not a crusading social conservative any more though I am a fiscal conservative.
I think I still am in doctrinal lockstep (not that it matters) with my political idol, Richard Nixon, who was not a doctrinaire conservative but had a large libertarian streak. He could also surprise with some liberal tendencies such as the wage-price freeze.
He has been quoted in his old age as saying he knew he had many gays in his administration. It was not something he was obsessed about. He did not go out of his way to praise their lifestyle but did not crusade against what went on their bedrooms either with some kind of vendetta.
This thread does bring out something funny though.
I find it amazing that from the "ole time pentecost" perception, CC1 is considered a "liberal" whom they believe would unavoidably open the door to all kinds of immorality because he does not accept extra-biblical legalism.
Shoot, CC1 is a right-wing reactionary.
He and Ferd claim they LOVE democracy.
Yeah, they love it until the election doesn't go their way and then they moan and whine that the majority in this country are dumb if they don't support every "rob from the poor and give to the rich" scheme that George W. Bush comes up with.
Well ... it's called "democracy" for a reason.
And no ... I don't necessarily support Hillary Clinton though I could end up voting for her.
Tell you what though, I bet a guy at work 100 bucks that she WILL be our next President, whether I support her or not.
She's got the Democrat nomination locked up and you people who think she won't be a formidable candidate that the Republicans won't have an uphill fight against are just whistling Dixie in the graveyard.
And you can blame George W. Bush's arrogant, imperialistic presidency for just about handing her the keys to the White House in 2008.
