You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. You had a personal experience with this person by the way of correspondance from them that you deemed inappropriate and you said as much. You did not lie about them, tell second hand stories, etc.
Please note that only one person that I am aware of voiced an objection to what you posted and although I respect her greatly I think she was off the mark this time.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: DKB: The Leader
If we aimed to not offend anyone with anything we said, we'd be sitting around telling each other what the time and temperature was at our back door.
....and even THAT might offend some who were cursed to live in colder climates while us, in warmer ones, basked in our outdoor glory!

Sister Alvear,
I apologize for how I addressed you in questioning your actions. I was in the wrong.
God bless,

All is well...I should not have said anything but I certainly did not mean it like you took it...I too apologize.

Are you related to DB, you've sure shown your backside on this one! No one now thinks that he is a jerk, just because he acted as one one time in his life.

I am not going to get into this again, except to say - you are right - I handled it badly. I do want to share this though. Someone pointed out to me that my post to Sis. Alvear sounded like a rebuke. I looked it up to see where I stood on that and I found out that I was wrong in my presentation to her. The only portion of scripture that has always stood out in my mind when I hear "rebuke" is "Rebuke not an elder".
I never really paid attention to verse 2 - "The elder women as mothers...". That is important and I was a little surprised that I forgot about it or overlooked it.
"Rebuke" means to "chastise or upbraid" and "intreat" means to "call near, invite, comfort, pray".
1 Timothy 5:1 "Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; (2) The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
She is my elder and I didn't treat her like I would my own mother. I was wrong.
Having said that, I feel I must point out that you have a "formed" opinion of the information given, i.e., "just because he acted as one one time in his life." That is the point that I was trying to get across - opinions would be formed by a one-sided story.
Now, again, I will agree with your assessment of my actions, but I did apologize to Sis. Alvear for that and that's all I have to say on this subject.

Re: DKB: The Leader
All on mhy part is ok...I spoke without even thinking...I am so carnal...anyway on my part all is well.
I think DB is one of the most intelligent men in Pentecost...it was as I said a little incident that hurt me and left a impression on me however I KNOW we all make mistakes and I just felt like he should have called us or talked to us personally without sending us the letter he did...but like I said many years ago independent people were in a different light than today...although I have always had and have many precious UPC friends and all know I have always defended the UPC when people have spoken evil about them...
They have a wonderful missions program and I deeply admire them and many of their missionaries...
PO once again I am sorry for this misunderstanding...Please forgive my unthoughtfulness.
...and as I said if I were a voting member that is who would have got my vote!
Blessings and love to you.

I am crushed that I let my carnal emotions get away from me and not think that I was violating one of the most beautiful passages on love when dealing with our elder brothers and sisters in Christ!!! - I Tim 5:1-2!
I probably made you have a horrible day and I can't tell you how that makes me feel!! Sorry is just not an adequate word - it's not enough, Sister Alvear!
It's one of those instances where you wish your words or actions were a slate and that you had an eraser in hand!!!
Goodness, I'm so glad that God doesn't treat us that way when He's upset with something we have said or done!
Again, I am sorry, Sister Alvear!
Blessing and love to you as well!!
