I think the parallells can be found in any denomonation. Thats why we have 1st 2nd, 3rd and all brands of "Baptist" churches. UPC apparently hasnt gotten the corner on the market of folks wanting to do their own thing....and apparently not on "men" saying what is necessary for someone to be saved.
Apparently division among any church has more to do with human will than right or wrong of the issue...IMO

Indeed... I can only speak of denominations with which I have experience... but what you have stated here is, most certainly, the case.
To boil it down to the most consistent element... if there are humans involved... there is division involved.

So true. This was rather enlightening to me when I discovered it. We can only draw from our experience. From the outside it appears some denominations have total harmony... the closer you get the more apparent it becomes they all have their squabbles.

Re: Growing Up Mennonite
I am almost certain they were from Pa. Do you happen to know any Ebersoles? I do remember they had family that were Mennonite.

Ebersole is a name that rings a bell though I know of none within my extended family.
The Old Order Mennonites do not "evangelize" as a rule, and they have no missionaries. However my brother and sister are part of the Eastern Mennonite Church and they have many missionaries in Central and South America - If these were conservative Mennonites (but not horse & buggy) there is likely a connection to this group or a similar one.
