What I meant is that all of us take sides based on things other than truth at times. We align ourselves with ideologies and personalities. We protect our associations. That is one of the biggest problems on AFF right now - a complete lack of objectivity due to personal associations. This lack of objectivity is present in ownership, administrators, moderators and most posters. It's stifling dialogue.
An issue comes up and we are immediately marginalized by those whom we have expressed a difference of opinion with in the past. The entire saga is quite Orwellian.
For instance, I am not nearly as liberal as some think. I am much more traditional doctrinally than the huge majority of this board. But I am constantly threatened when I disagree with any of the "old landmarks."
I have friends on this board who want me to accept trinitarianism as a doctrinal equivalent to true biblical principle. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! I have other friends who want me to drink the kool-aid regarding extra-biblical standards. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!
But I can operate logically. If I lose friends because of it, oh well. They must not have been very good friends in the first place. I just refuse to be marginalized and pigeon-holed in order to maintain friendships with liberals or conservatives.
