Re: Charismatic Bishop In Lawsuit.

When did the young men go to the police? I am just wondering about the statute of limitations for these alleged crimes.

This is a civil case. Criminal and civil have different limits. Like the young man said, he played around with them when they were young and didn't engage until they were of legal age.

He says he loved Bishop Long, but he can’t escape the nightmare of what he says Long did to him as a young man.

“I cannot get the sound of his voice out of my head,” said Parris. “I cannot forget the smell of his cologne. And I cannot forget the way that he made me cry many nights when I drove in his car on the way home, not able to take enough showers to wipe the smell of him off of my body.”

Re: Charismatic Bishop In Lawsuit.

I just hope Long is more innocent than Tiger Woods, Jim Baker, Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard, etc, etc, I'd like someone to show me where one of these types of situations has hit the media and it turns out that the alleged victims were all lying!

So, my "prognostication" is based upon past events not my hope of either guilt or innocence. I hope the guy is innocent. However, all my belief and hope and faith in this situation is worthless.....whatever happened has already happened and no amount of prayer is going to change that. I can't pray for his innocence and neither would I dare pray for his guilt! I wouldn't wish that on anyone! I only pray for truth to be paramount because only truth sets us free.

You're right Coadie, I guess that means that I hope the alleged victims are all filthy rotten scum bag liars? Hmmm...how does that fit?

The Duke LaCrosse situation. It was 100% made up and the DA, as well as others, were fired over it.

There are also MANY girls who have claimed traumatic rape who later recanted. Recently in our area, a college scholarship athlete was arrested, accused of organizing a gang-rape, lost a season of eligibility, was eventually kicked off the team, lost it all. The girl, under pressure eventually, admitted she was making it up because she had been late for curfew and feared punishment from her father.

It happens a lot.

They are asking for damage settlements. I don't know how you place a dollar value on loss of innoscence.
