I know we all are serious on not adding to or taking away, so not sure why you implied there may be some here that take His word lightly.
I am serious when I say this, but I, so far anyway, cannot see a clear pattern to follow or a solid set of rules to follow in interpreting the Bible, and now you say the rules are different?
See my confusion?
If the rules change, there has to be a reason, but also a precedent for the change.
You realize there are some out there that say the rules have changed from the salvational formula of Acts 2:38 and they have never been able to explain how or when the rules change, but mostly just because that is what they believe.
I will wait to see it you can validate your rules that change, or seem to change, based on the intended outcome.
I need consistency.
|
My suggestion to follow the rules that the Lord Jesus gave us in Rev. 22 is to:
#1......Fear any changes in wording to this book.
#2.....Fear any changes in interpretation to this book.
#3.....Fear any thinking that some verses or words mean something foreign to what we read in this book.
This book is concluded with a curse of damnation to ANYONE that tampers with it.
Must I really explain what your conscience is telling you already?
The question(s) you and I must ask ourselves is this....
Have we been tampering with this book ourselves to a degree that brings this curse on us?
Have I been telling folks in the church age that the majority of this book is not relevant to them?(taking away)
Have I been inserting new meanings to words that are not originally written for us to read?(adding)
Again Bowas, teaching the Bible is a TERRIFYING responsibility before our God.
O.T. prophets were executed for doing this improperly.
I can only ask you to consider everything you have ever learned in your life, and put it all up for grabs regarding teaching.
If it is perfectly exact, then teach only those things you trust will not violate the Word of God.
If you see ANY strange or troubling controversy in your teachings, dig deep and expose it before yourself and either abandon it or fix it.
The only things we must be teaching with authority, are the things that are perfectly set in stone in our minds, with all confidence.

You should take your own advice Sean. These very verses contradict what you have been saying, that there will not be any sin or sinners in the world when all thing are complete, and your New Jerusalem comes down to earth.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Rev 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Rev 22:21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Re: Some standing here
Revelation 22King James Version (KJV)
Description of the New Jerusalem City in heaven.....
22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (description complete)
Final Comments about the book of Rev.....
6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

You did not explain anything! Same city, same chapter, yet out side the city are :dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Yet you teach, there will be no sinners on earth at this time. Where is this New Jerusalem located?

In heaven.
Revelation 21
21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Re: Some standing here
Sean, how is the tree of life in HEAVEN, when the CITY comes OUT OF HEAVEN and has the tree in it?

That was my next question.
Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
