Thad, you misunderstood what I was saying. I don't think the legalistic system led to their downfall at all. I just think that they are drawn to legalistic systems, hoping for protection by all the boundaries. It doesn't cause their downfalls; just doesn't necessarily protect them like they think it would. No system can protect you from sin!

Sherri what do you mean by "system" ? how do you define a legalistic system ?
