Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
I see on the churches facebook page where the pastor and associate pastor of the new Apostolics of Memphis church founded by a former member of TPC Memphis have been licensed by the ALJC.
"Apostolics of Memphis is proud to announce Pastor David Ellis and Associate Pastor Jeff Roberson, have been officially licensed with the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ (ALJC)."

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Yep, just what Memphis needs...another romanist church. How long until the 'God's gotta have a new house' marketing program begins?

And as JR related to me about 2 weeks ago, (connected thru FB) MANY of the TPC members have left TPC and came over to their church. He said things are really going good for the new church and saints. Very happy for them that they are healing thro all this mess!

I am not sure it is hurting them bad yet. From the pics I saw I think the new Apostolics of Memphis church probably only can seat about 80 people at this time. Of course I am sure if more people come over they will move somewhere bigger.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
Surely among all those people there are some spiritual men who can bring some spiritual food to the table for all the saints?
It would be a shame if the former pastor did not equip the church to carry on for Christ without him.

Not sure if there was a formal plan in place but I believe the church board is working with the TN UPC DS to find a new pastor.
My question has not been are they doing anything but what is the timeframe. That question and concern was met with a chorus of "in God's time" excuses for dragging this process out.
I have a feeling "God's time" for a church to have a pastor is a reasonable but fairly quick period of time. I can't believe it is God's will for a church to go a year without a pastor. For that reason I hope the machinations of men are not getting in the way of finding a new pastor.
Observing similar situations over the years will tell you that churches do not do well with a leadership vacuum. Without a vision the people perish.
While it is true you don't want to jump hastily into any leadership changes it is just as true that you don't want to drag it out beyond a reasonable time. We are almost 5 months into this now.

I would like to know, how many is MANY? 25? 50? 100?
Is their goal to pull TPC members? Did JR say that was a good thing?
