BTW the reason for bringing up the other points was the assertion that such stuff was about modesty and later called Tradition and that those that called it tradition got rid of the standards.....not just an argument about makeup, but the response goes to that point you raised....Even the more conservative amoung us have gotten rid of a lot of "standards" that were once called modesty but later called tradition. Does that mean we never should have gotten rid of them?

Also many of our old timers never did have all these standards. Many of the old timers were fine with jewelry. It was another segment that fought against it. Your argument would be more true if and only if every one always believed in these standards.

Of course, prostitutes also wear panty-hose. So I guess we should preach against panty-hose too. Lord knows, we wouldn't want our good Pentecostal women to do do anything that prostitutes also do.

Why cant people see the fallacy of that kind of logic?

It's similar to the "hippies have beards, so Pentecostal men shouldnt have beards" irrationality that's common in some parts of Pentecost.

We can also ask, do con artists wear suits? Why? (to deceive you into thinking they are legit)

Do professional business women wear makeup? Why? Not every woman wearing makeup is doing it because they want to get paid for having sex.

Should women be conscious of wearing makeup like a hooker? I think so.

On the flip side, men are pressured to look a certain way too. Like our conferences look like senate in session.

Where do we get clean shaved, colored shirts and suits from? Why have ties gotten longer over the years and why are the brothers wearing them?

I'll tell ya, because the WORLD standards dictated to us that is presentable and respectable. They tell us to LOOK a certain way.

My interest was in how TS (as the thread starter) makes his decisions about what he wears. I am benefitted in knowing he looks to the world for his cues.
