Ted Cruz isn't a "real" candidate? I find it interesting that the American people have advocated for an elected official to stand up to their party and not violate their principles or violate what they pledged to do in order to be elected.
As far as what I have seen, Ted Cruz is that politician - many times standing alone - to shine the spotlight on those that have "lied", not holding to their promises. He has a record we can see.

What Ted Cruz would have done, as opposed to ORomney, is challenge the Governors in every state to follow the example of Utah. I am sure there will be more states to follow this example, probably from Republican governors.
Now we are looking at Donald Trump, who might actually be the person that will enact single payer healthcare on us. We don't really know what he will do when he gets elected. He has a whole lot of explaining to do on policy, i.e., working with Congress to change things that are already functioning - trade agreements, etc. He can't simply come in and say, "You're fired." He also has processes he needs to go through, unless he wants to follow this current Administration on "executive orders" - which they need to get rid of entirely. Along with many other GOP Establishment types, i.e. Kaisch, Jeb, Graham, etc., Trump has also agreed - it's law - do your job.... accomplishing what the Left wants - move Christianity out of the viable workforce - civil service, bakeries, florists - get rid of them. No 1st Amendment rights here.
