The Amish would, and some conservative Mennonites may... generally based not on doctrine at all but on a pledge some make to abide and stay true to the church they have joined.
I really do not believe very many would think that - especially if one is still a conservative Christian (or better yet Mennonite of another stripe! ).

Re: Growing Up Mennonite
Here is a very informative video on the Plain People. Warning it's long. I may start a thread later. Some very interesting points made, especially by longtime expert on Amish and Mennonites, Donald Kraybill.

Re: Growing Up Mennonite
I was raised without a few things... BUT we did believe in gravity! LOL! Here is my Momma.
She has nine children and nearly sixty grandchildren, in her seventies and still knows how to have fun!

Re: Growing Up Mennonite
From http://strawberrylake.org
January 1954. Gerald Derstine, a young pastor on the White Earth Indian Reservation in Minnesota, asked his old-order Mennonite congregation to fast and pray for revival.
Christmas week of that same year, it came in a way that exceeded their wildest dreams.
"If I'd known ahead of time what was coming, I'd have driven 5,000 miles in the other direction," Derstine said. "On the other hand, it was so glorious that if heaven is anything comparable, it will be worth it all."
The Holy Spirit fell on them with all the phenomena of the first Pentecost. For seven days the Derstine family and others lived a strange and supernatural existence, totally directed by God.

Re: Growing Up Mennonite
Thanx Scott. I have read these. Their was and still is a significant charismatic Mennonite movement.
