Steadfast,
I give you much more credit for smarts than you appear willing to accept. Now if I believed for even 15 minutes that you were so simple minded that you thought a veiled reference to spitting and preacher's daughter was not going to create a firestorm of controversy here on AFF I would probably have let it go. However, I know that you are a really really smart guy, you're probably smarter before 9am than I am all day long. You know only to well how things work on a message board like this one. So to suggest that you were just making a joking statement without ill thought is a little disingenuous at best in my most humble opinion. Especially in light of the fact that you then decided, at the very slightest bit of prodding, to chronicle the whole tale.
Let's try this for an analogy and see if it works. I'll use a story that is, while rather untoward, extremely well known and ought not to be subject to censure.
Say we are having a discussion about Sunday school, organizational influences on the current material and trends that are developing in churches today. Some folks like whats going on, others don't and think that the current model is ridiculous.
Now let's just say I pipe in with the " joking statement"
Yeah well just make sure you keep the SS director away men's washrooms in public parks late at night.
What would you think of that comment? What would you assume my motivation for saying it? What if I then if I then followed it up with a link to a series of newspaper articles that chronicled the whole mess. Especially if it was not something that was universally known and reported in major newspapers.
I know exactly what you would think, post and assume and guess what. You'd be right!

Spitting and sexual perversion do not compare, methinks.

Have you got something against Steadfast?
Seems like you are making a big deal defending stupidity and trying to broaden it into an attack on the entire AMC.
Just wondering, how big would the crowd be at AMC if all of the UPC guys stayed home?

Guy,
You are right, I have been hit in the side of the head several times. I'm sure that that has caused many of my problems. Both me and my therapist are working at overcoming these difficulties.
I don't know Steadfast outside of FCF,nFCF and AFF
I'm glad the UPC guys are at a meeting like this. It will be good for them to hear some good preaching

Great message for the first 40 minutes (sound familiar?) and then launched into the whole holiness package... much like it seems he must have done last night. Mind you, I had no problem with that. There was the common barbs such as screaming "If you're submit to a Presbyter or organization your a 'weinie' (to which Bro. Adams from Kentucky said aloud "God bless the weinies!").
My problem came when he then ran over to the video camera who the Pastor's own precious daughter was running and screamed "And I preach against that, too!" at which time he launched a missle of spittle... which completely missed the camera and hit the daughter directly in the face. She wept as she wiped her face but kept doing as she was asked. To her credit her spirit before - and after - was pure and humble... and holier than the injustice she endured.
He then ran up on the Elder's platform and shouted at the son (who is now Pastor) and said, "Dear God, man, someday that old man's (pointing at his father) gonna die and SOMEONE has to start preaching holiness around here!" The Elder is a precious man who has preached a strong message for years. Let's just say that I wouldn't have been as gracious as the Pastors Haymon were. They just smiled in the face of their insult and, again, maintained a spirit more holy than the injustice they received.
In defense of Bro. Perdew, they said he doesn't do that kind of thing very often. I hope they are right. TWO THINGS I'm sure of:
1. I'm not sure I would have been as gracious if it was my daughter.
2. If he had 'capped' on me like that in front of my congregation my biggest challenge would have been keeping my men from dragging him out of the Church.
The Haymon family may, indeed, be more holy than I in that aspect.
Enough said.

That sounds like Bro. Adams!

Just a little talk with Jesus makes it alright.
Let us all remember that when it is our "man" getting stoned, we cry. How dare anyone say anything negative.
Yet, if we choose to disparage someone, and someone else gets upset about it, why, we are merely telling the truth that folks don't know.
I sincerely hope some of you "multiple Forum" brethren get my point. What I am seeing is what some would call "poetic justice."

My report firstly I immensely enjoyed Elder Perdew even the warnings about the internet and the dangers thereof.
My problem with Steadfast's recollection of the Denver episode is this whenever we personally are involved or feel we have been personally attacked then we bring that into the discussion which colors our perception of any event. That is myself included.
All preaching and teaching was good, the attendance was good and the fellowship was great.
I did not know CC! was even there until after the service when I was Bishop 1.Just got home myself.

Elder Epley,
Glad you made it home safely. I wish I could have stayed till the altar service was over so I could have shaken your hand but I know we will get to fellowship a little next time you come to Nashville.
