Re: Did Jesus Wear Pants?

I bet they had neck ties in ancient Judea that matched their button up tunics.

You should get out more. If you ever get to Israel, stop by these very interesting facilities:

First, I want to ask you have you been to these museums? Second, which one has the diagram you offered us?

What is this?

I need to start asking the people who are posting if they believe if man evolved from apes and lived naked in caves. Or did God actually dress the first human beings. Wouldn't that be interesting.
There was an example of God dressing the first humans earlier on this thread. Genesis 3:21 please please please find the gender distinction here!!

Is that not Hebrew clothing? Did they take away their manly pants and put them in long tunics?

Joe, I'll give it back to you. Then God dressed the first humans gender neutral?
If you say yes, explain. I know some colleges who will book you right away to speak to their students on how even the Bible teaches that God doesn't mind gender neutrality.

Re: Did Jesus Wear Pants?

One thing I think that gets overlooked is that while the average Judean didn't wear trousers 100% of the time, trousers were worn at times. They weren't "rare". And, in all fairness, trousers were typically worn by men. Though in colder regions during the colder seasons, they were also worn by women as part of the undergarments. Essentially, there wasn't a great difference between the attire of men and the attire of women. While a woman's garments mostly corresponded to those of men: they wore simlāh and kethōneth. Women's garments were probably longer (compare Nahum 3:5, Jeremiah 13:22, Jeremiah 13:26, Isaiah 47:2), had sleeves (2Samuel 13:19), presumably were brighter colors and more ornamented, and also may have been of finer material. Also worn by women was the sadin, the finer linen underdress (see Isaiah 3:23, Proverbs 22:24).
