Very true Prax...........he who is convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.
There has to be a heart, or opinion, change before true transformation can take place.

while we are on the topic of "assumptions" - are we to just assume the apostles were baptized in Jesus name? I cannot find this in scripture. This is a questtion I have had for some time.
I could be missing it - I don't claim to be a bible scholar. when I have inquired with others about that I have gotten what I would call "assumptions".
Maybe this was addressed somewhere else and I have not been able to stumble on it.
Sorry to throw in a "rabbit trail" here.
thanks!

Re: TRANSCRIPT Of Message By HANEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen those who became so broken and sorrowful, that in the midst of
their repenting their sorrowing suddenly turned into joy. In their rejoicing they
received the Holy Ghost before they were baptized.
In Acts10: 44-48, there is an example of those who heard the word and believed, received the Holy Ghost. Then Peter said, "Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord."
Why argue and squabble over not WANTING to do all that is commanded of us.
Why resist the wonderful things of God! Be as little children, open and honest.
If the Word says it, just do it!
Blessings,

Falla39,
Please forgive my ignorance in even asking but are you responding to my question or to the thread in general?
I am not familiar enough yet with the group to know for certain.
I would like to say that I agree it is commanded (Baptism in Jesus Name) and is something that should be done. I just don't find in the scriptures where it was done by the apostles.
Thanks!

Re: TRANSCRIPT Of Message By HANEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been saying for a long time pentecostals have been focused more on the Holy Ghost than repentance. That is one of the main reasons why pentecostal churches have high turnover rates.
I've been saying for a long time that people can get the Holy Ghost without repenting. I've been crucified for that statement. Me thinks a Praxs is on to something.

Re: TRANSCRIPT Of Message By HANEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alter Calls serve two purposes it seems now...1 it's where we pray visiters through to the Holy Spirit and 2 it's where saints repent....Oh My...how messed up is that?
We should have sinners repenting THEN praying through

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Sis. BBM,
I wasn't necessarily responded to any one poster. My thoughts were that
in this particular Acts 10 passage, Peter preached, the people believed and
the Holy Ghost fell on them. (How they must have devoured Peter's words.)
Although they received the Holy Ghost, Peter still commanded them to be
baptized in the name of the Lord.
I have heard people say that because they had already received the Holy
Ghost, that meant you didn't HAVE to be baptized. But this passage gives
an example of that very thing happening, yet Peter still commanded them
to be baptized.
No, I wasn't addressing your post at all!!
Blessings,
Falla39
