I have heard it said like this.
A man goes and commits Murder, the Police arrest him and put him in jail (Hell).
The man is held there until he is brought before the Judge.
The Judge pronounces Sentence then sends him to Prison(Lake of Fire) to serve
out his sentence.
So you think hell and the lake of fire are two different places?
I have been taught by my father, and by my pastor that saints that die, do not go immediately to heaven- they are asleep, waiting for the trumpet to sound...
I, too believe that Hell and the Lake of Fire are two different things. Hell is a place of utter darkness, and the Lake of Fire is where you will burn forever and ever, and the fire cannot be quenched...
When we die wouldn't our concept of time and space will be altered. Eternity is a different dimension then we exist in now. So to die and sleeping, to the living might be hundreds or thousands of years, but to the dead it could be the blink of an eye.

God speaks of the Death Angel passing through Egypt.
Maybe there is something to this Grim Reaper thing.
in addition to the plague of the death of the firstborn...
Death angel slew 70,000 Israelites (1 Chronicles 21)
Death angel slew 185,000 Assyrians (Isaiah 37)

Never tell a young person that anything cannot be done. God may have been waiting centuries for someone ignorant enough of the impossible to do that very thing. ~ John Andrew Holmes
