We did see TWO of them live a few years ago, Neckstadt!
A bunch of us had gone to the Women of Faith Conference in Fort Wayne. On the way home, it started to get very dark very quickly. Then we started to hear this rumble like a train. Mind you - I was driving a van loaded with women down the highway at this time doing about 70 mph!!
We looked over to our right and saw not one, but TWO funnel clouds had come down out of the clouds!
Motorcycles were pulled in under the viaducts all over. Alot of cars had pulled over off the road. Most of the semi trucks were continuing to go tho. So I opted to go with them, hoping that we could get further away from the tornadoes. Meanwhile we turned on the radio to a Fort Wayne station just as they ran the alert for a tornado warning in their county!
It was so interesting being in my van! I had women screaming to pull over so they could get in the ditch (which there wasn't one of!). And I had women screaming to floor it!! I just kept on plodding along at my normal 70 mph.
Then I suggested that someone should pray. Oh my goodness! All seven women started praying right out loud at the same time!!! I laughed and laughed and told them they sounded like a Pentecostal Prayer Meeting!!!!
We finally got to an exit and pulled off so we could wait it out in the parking lot of Wendy's restaurant.
The whole incident lasted about 5 minutes maybe. But it sure seemed like forever. We checked later and they said the National Weather Service had confirmed two tornadoes but that neither of them had done any major damage - they stayed out in the farmer's fields and were only on the ground for a matter of about a minute or two.
God was good to us
