This is so sad- She was a favorite of mine. I have a cd of her songs that Bill Gaither did and I enjoy listening to them so much. You do not realize how she influnced gospel music until you listen to the songs she wrote. "Mama's Teaching Angels how to Sing" now. I pray for her family.

This is true and so sad.

Gospel singer Dottie Joyce Rambo dies
(Published May 11, 2008)
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Gospel singer-songwriter Joyce "Dottie" Rambo died early Sunday when the bus she was in ran off a road in southwest Missouri and struck an embankment.
Rambo, 74, of Nashville, Tenn., died in the crash about two miles east of Mount Vernon on Interstate 44, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. Seven other people in the bus were injured, and were hospitalized in Springfield with moderate to severe injuries, the patrol said.

It was unclear if the accident, which occurred about 2 a.m., was weather-related, the patrol said. Severe storms and tornadoes hit the region about 6 p.m. Saturday, killing 14 people. Sustained winds and storms swept through the area later in the night, according to the National Weather Service."She was a giant in the gospel music industry," said Beckie Simmons, Rambo's agent. "Dolly Parton recorded some of her songs."
She was on her way to a Mother's Day performance in Texas, according to her Web site.
Rambo was inducted to the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007.
Rambo has had more than 2,500 published songs, including gospel classics such as "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and the 1982 Gospel Music Association Song of the Year, "We Shall Behold Him."
More Stories..

Also...Here is more about the others traveling with her:

Sad, like someone else has stated, folks will be singing her songs for years, she won't be forgotten in this generation.

That's what I'm reading...he was NOT killed. The thing about these type of stories is, for a time we are going to get conflicting reports.

What I read on the singingnews.com forum that was linked here is, at 2:19 this morning, MO State Troopers responded on I-44 outside of Mount Vernon, and she was dead at the scene.

Very sad...

Your right. And it is very sad. Kind of like loosing a family member you have known most of your life.

Re: Dottie Rambo Killed in Bus Accident due to Sto

this accident happened about a block from where my Biological sister lives well.. a mile but out there its pretty rural so what would be considered a city block... they were told that 2 died in the accident also but thats neither here nor there... its just sad all around. When I called my mom and told her who it was that was in the accident she was shocked... Said that would explain why everythings so crazy out there right now... they were however under the impression this happened after the tornado hit but they arent sure... she said there is so much debris in the road they may have even swerved to avoid and hit something... ..

My grandmothers house (which now belongs to one of my aunts) was destroyed right by where the accident occured and they said that there is debris from the house all over the place and parts of the house everywhere there. It happened right outside of Purdy nearer to Mt Vernon.
