I think the church needs a few more real sheep...

I am with you on this. I am tired of saints being referred to as stupid animals that should never question the Pastor/leadership. They are nothing more than sheepdogs who try to keep all the sheep in one place while the Lord/Shepherd tries to lead us to still waters.

Blessings, Rhoni

I guess humanity in it's entirety is "stupid" if compared to the Great Shepherd. But I see no distinction in value between church leadership and the rest of the body.

Rhoni, since I started the thread I will also be the one to caution. (not just to you but to all of us)

The church leadership/pastor etc. in anyone's paradigm should be worthy of honor and respect.

The "sheep" thinking for themselves and establishing their own direct relationship with the Great Shepherd is a good thing. Nevertheless, it does not diminish the value of the under shepherd in any way. We are all highly prized Blue ribbon winners through Christ!

Rhoni...I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with pastors. I have too. But they're not just sheepdogs keeping the sheep all in one place... They are shepherds.

I'll be the first to admit that some pastors have no business being in that position, they aren't called, aren't qualified, aren't prepared, and it's not a good deal for anyone. There are others who are called....and in a position of leadership they'll be fantastic for in 10 years. They're just not ready. It really bothers me seeing this happen, over and over (and I am NOT singling out UPC..I have one entire experience with the UPC and I'm not saying if that even fits into any of these categories..I'm speaking of Christianity as a whole).

You have to find a pastor you can trust. And you have to find a pastor who is a shepherd. If you don't, you're going to go this whole thing alone and that's no good for you.
