I'm on Facebook my self,befriend me if you like,I usually turn down the game requests,and I have gotten several of them,one reason I don't know how to play them.
I do enjoy using the chat thing though.

You can set your privacy settings so no one can find you, even if you use your real name.

Also, I don't recommend using the applications, because I've heard multiple stories of people getting viruses from them.

My advice: If you're a really private person, you shouldn't be on facebook. It's for transparency and not caring if people (including strangers) know [nearly] everything about you.

Can't quite remember where you change initial settings, but under profile there should be a place to add a middle name. Most people just put it there.

I tend to agree with this. But if you're careful, you can limit information to friends only --- assuming they don't have big mouths offline

Also, just limit the amount of info you include in your profile.
