After the embezzlement scandal with Red Cross in the aftermath of Katrina, I wouldn't donate or encourage anyone to donate to them.
My workplace is matching employee donations to a local group, Project C.U.R.E. I've wanted to go to their processing center to help pack and sort supplies, but our church is in the middle of remodeling so I haven't been able to go. I like the group so far, only 2% of donations go to overhead costs.
What have I missed? Has RC lost their credibility? I must have missed that...

After Katrina there were several dozen RC staffers indicted for embezzlement. Apparently while safeguards were in place to prevent it, RC was lax and didn't use full diligence to protect peoples donations.
They said they've made changes to make sure it doesn't happen again, but I'm still leery of it.
Must have missed that myself, one of my closest friends is a National spokesperson for RC.
As such, I doubt it's something they want to talk about. The standard response is that it was limited and they've made changed to ensure it won't happen again. But it did happen, and there was fallout from it.
I mean, I feel bad for them, really, bad. And I will pray for them and for the brothers and sisters in Christ affected by all of this. I honestly have not felt "led", impressed upon or anything like that, concerning giving to them.
If my church took up a collection, I would give then, but that's it.
Maybe I just haven't thought about it enough-- there's just so much going on affecting so many people I know-- American Christians. If I had it to give, I'd give the bulk to the folks I know, not to Haiti.
Ok, I'm a bad person. Someone come correct me so I can apologize... again.

You're not a bad person. Nothing to apologize for. Not everyone gives to every worthy (or otherwise) cause. Actually, nobody gives to every cause!
