3. That was a rhetorical question as you seem to find fault with the statement, "in the last days there will be earthquakes in divers places.

I take it for what it says.
5. See the answer above for question 4.
6. Was he? I take it at face value, that Jesus meant what he said.

I'm sorry, Ron, I need some more clarification. I'm attempting to know exactly what you meant when you responded to the earthquake with the tried & true religious cliche of, "These are the end times." I need to know if that statement has any meaning or present value at all. It's been 2,000+ years since the statement was made so I think it makes sense to assume it wasn't a literal statement, would you agree? There are many non-literal statements in the bible, such as the statements about the four-headed horseman. Four-headed horseman don't exist. So concerning, Jesus' statement, was it literal? And I don't accept the standardized answer, "Well, He understands things that we don't." If that's true, why did He say it at all?

So, going through your limited responses, I'll see clarification by writing in green.

1. The Apostles are correct period, it is us that get it mixed up (just look around at the world of Christianity for proof of that.)
••So would you be acknowledging that you don't know what the apostles meant? Are you saying that you are mixed up? And yes, I agree. Looking at current religion is proof that people get it mixed up. One particular religious group immediately comes to mind!

2. You are surmising the Apostles didn't understand since you brought that up.
••No, no, not at all. Again, they said they were in the "last days." Any reasonable understanding of that phrase would draw a period of time that would be within their generation. Obviously, that wasn't the case. But they boldly proclaimed the Last Days. Yet, they weren't literally the Last Days. So....do you have any idea what they meant?

3. That was a rhetorical question as you seem to find fault with the statement, "in the last days there will be earthquakes in divers places.
••Incorrect. I'm attempting to find out what you think it means. Jesus referenced earthquakes, but earthquakes were happening then, according to history. With that being the case, I'll ask the same question about this...do you have any idea what Jesus meant when He said that?

4. Again, are you calling into question Jesus statement in the Gospels?
I take it for what it says.
••Of course not. I'm being honest about the lack of clarity. Can you be, as well?

5. See the answer above for question 4.
••Not good enough. Can you give me an opinion on what Jesus meant when He said there would be earthquakes in the last days? The most deadly earthquake in history was in 1556 and the fourth deadliest earthquake was in 1138. Are you saying the "Last Days" could have covered thousands of years?

6. Was he? I take it at face value, that Jesus meant what he said.
••Ok fine. What is the face value? What did Jesus mean?

7. See my first statement
••Fine, if you think it's just as important to help people in an earthquake as it is to proclaim the "Last days" (even though, evidently, you don't know what that means). Maybe next time you could include it? Just a thought.

One more question...It's been 2,000+ years since Jesus said that. Do you think there's any chance that the "Second Coming" could take place in 3,000 more years?

My friend's parents are in Maui right now. They've been moved from the 3rd floor of their hotel to the 11th floor and everyone is told to stay AWAY from the beaches.

Out at sea is the best place to be - especially if you're a boat - when a tsunami threatens. The deep water means that the energy of the wave is extended along a deeper column of water and there are no rocks to crash against. All you notice is a slight bump, along with all of the other bumps and movements.

I'm posting much later, after the fact, and it does appear that the wave energy dispersed in a manner that was considerably less harmful than the 1960 Chilean quake that sent a tsunami which wiped out a good part of Hilo, HI.
