If I misunderstood your post (and I very possibly did) I apologize to you JD. However, I do feel like more often than not blacks are holding themselves back in this soceity more than "the white man."
Where I live (D/FW) far too many are content to blame their circumstances and upbringing, rather than change it.
Sorry, I don't care for that, I grew up side by side in the same type neighborhood, played with those same kids, and when I got older got into the same trouble. But the difference is I came to Christ, changed everthing about myself, took up a work ethic and changed my situation. Many of the people never got out of that neighborhood unless it was in cuffs.
And it cuts two ways. It wasn't only the blacks, it was also the hispanics and whites that grew up in that (and other similar) situations. Its not a color thing, its a mentality that things are never going to get better. That your trapped, and no one cares. It is utter hoplelessness that grips people.
