Re: $5.00 a gallon gas
Nah we bought a gas-powered club car for scooting around the community. We use public transport or occasionally rent a car for everything else. We cant afford these gas prices!
We're going to Indonesia in 5 weeks I think its about $2.5 or $3 there (gotta check my conversions on that tho) but there are about a quarter billion motorcycles (estimated by noise not real number) there so the gas goes a lot further.

I just like to keep up with the news. It pays to be a little sharp on economics now and again (literally).
Amazing how you accuse concern about economics as hysteria but are generally bent out of shape over what DK Bernard might write about this week. I've never gone onto one of your many thread and accused you of hysteria.

Re: $5.00 a gallon gas
Let gas go way up, it will be another nail in Obama's re-election coffin. I think high gas prices were one of the main factors why people voted Obama.

Hardly.
The average price of gas when he took office was less than two dollars per gallon.
Obama is a sorcerer. He learned from the best of sorcerers the power of the chant and its affect on the mind. "YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH."

Re: $5.00 a gallon gas
Look for shortages in Petrol products, especially in the Northern Midwest and some areas around DC area and South from there.
Gas, Diesel and heating oil for homes will continue to rise for many reasons, the least among them is that our dear leader in the White House has decided to curtail drilling off our shores. The Chinese are moving in to do the drilling in the absence of American Oil companies... Why not? With their own rising middle class and growing affluence and the millions of new cars and trucks there, they need the oil too.
With growing affluence in the third world countries such as China, India, Singapore and many other places, the competition for oil is only increasing steadily as is food and many other commodities. Expect to pay more for everything including the vile polluted water now being fed to the sleeping masses here in America.
It's only going to get worse.

Re: $5.00 a gallon gas
I don't about now but Gas in Venezuela in 2008 was about as cheap as water. It cost almost nothing.
I think within 2 years we are going to see 7 or even 8 dollar gas along with some shortages reminiscent of the oil embargo of the 1970s when lines of cars trying to get gas stretched for blocks.
With hyperinflation looming on the horizon, everyone is going to be millionaires or even billionaires soon.
