Re: I/Me/My Syndrome
I am really glad to have gotten away from the church. I can look back with some compassion and regard for the people who are there. Do I still have anger over the things that happened? Sure. But I guess it has faded quite a bit. The best thing I ever did was walk out the door.

No, not all traditional Pentecostal peeps are like what this video portrays...much like not every person that dresses in a disapproving way (according to some UPC-ers) are hellbound and unholy...

When you used the words,[ what still continues] I take it you use to be in the UPC? I was at one time and I don't agree with a lot of their legal ideas about controlling people like they do. It's discouraging to me to see God's people put into bondage with fear tactics. I think one of the things that made me wake up was this. A UPC preacher boldly stated that all the people in other churches outside of the UPC are going to hell. That kind of self-righteousness arrogance is what I hate and so does Jesus. And I've heard other things with the same content. But as far as the video well, people are just people and they get caught up in a mind set and it carries over into their emotional center and then comes out of their mouth.
I have been around long enough to have seen error in all belief. I just try to remember where Jesus brought me from and the evil darkness that I was in.
Peace of God between us.

Much agreed with you! I'm not so much interested in stirring trouble as I am to get people to wake up and realize what's going on. We can sit around all day long and talk about where God has brought us...but we can't forget there's a world of people beyond the walls of our home that need salvation and redemption.
I used the video to prove my point that it's not about us; it's about God and what He can do for others. There's enough in the world about I/me/my. Why would the church, who can be so critical of people not like them, do the same thing yet point on the world's selfishness? Should I say the pot's calling the kettle black?
It's all good; I wasn't trying to come down harsh on my reply earlier. But, it got my eyes raised to the ceiling when I read your initial response...

We're sailing in the same boat and Jesus is the captain. Keep doing what your doing for others, let your light shine and maybe some of those people we are discussing will see it and come out of where they are to a better experience in the Lord Jesus. God's blessing on you my brother in Christ.

Re: I/Me/My Syndrome
It's amazing to me how many threads have been devoted to this song.
Most of those who don't like it just use it as another chance for an underhanded attack on the UPC.

Re: I/Me/My Syndrome
I don't understand why every time someone posts about the "sins" of the UPCI or WPF...pride, ignorance, disregard for scripture by extra-biblical traditions, there is always someone that comes along and tries to make it about the person who wrote the post. Why don't you detractors of Dagwood quit accusing him of having some hidden agenda and deal with the issue? The UPCI has some major problems that are not going to be resolved by sticking your head in the sand, or your fingers in your ears and going, "na,na,na,na,na,".

I went back and listened to it twice. I like the song and can appreciate it because I have a full understanding why she is singing it. I might listen to it three times before the days is out. I wish I knew it back 35 years ago when anything with the title of Pentecostal was labeled by churches and people as Holy Rollers and fanatics, and Jesus freaks, and cults, and devil worshippers, and satanist, and crazy people, I guess I could go on but I won't.

Are you without sin[sins of the UPC]] that you can declare someone else sinful? What manner of person are you that your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of others? I honestly think the problems of the UPC are the Lord's responsibility if you try to change that your self then you in retrospect have done the same as they.

And I'll correct you as well. I'm not attacking. So, keep patting yourself on the back and let it all be about you, you, you. For the rest of us, we'll be away from the mainstream non-sense and actually be making a difference just to make people like you look good sitting on your golden throne...

Are you stating that you are unaware of any "sins" associated with the UPCI or WPF? If you are making such a statement I will have to seriously doubt your credibility.
