That's kinda odd you were called that for those reasons. Just curious, though, what is it about Christmas you don't celebrate? Any of it, some of it, or what? Or, is that Christmas is year-round for you, not necessarily in the form of music and decor?
Just trying to walk in your shoes for a minute on this one...
All I will say here is that I would partake of the festivities if it was turned into a secular holiday.
I began to move away from the day inch by
inch at the age of 14.
My answer would have been crass and much more specific 6 yrs ago.

Gotcha. Well, hopefully you've got a sense of happiness and spirit (for lack of a better way to put it) overall, whether it's about or around Christmas, or otherwise. And that's not meant to be derrogatory or sarcastic in any way.

You'd be surprised at the hostility one experiences when it is discovered that they don't do the holidays.
We let people know at first but it didn't take long to realize the reaction you could expect so we are now 2 states away from where I was so unwise as to let it be known.
We haven't told anyone in about a decade now.
It's a spiral down into chaos. They find out... they ask why you don't... they take your answers as an attack on what they do... you get attacked "back"...
Silence is, indeed, sometimes golden.
Of course... those who do participate in the holidays don't have the market cornered on bad attitudes. That's for sure. I've seen some pretty bad attitudes by those who don't participate. There are plenty of bad reactions to go around.

I have taken the holidays and just turned them around.
We get together to do something fun,
have a nice meal together and attend church or a Christmas play.
We decommercialized the holidays to be simple and stress free.
Now it is something we look forward to,
it used to be something I dreaded because it was stressful.

This year, we're drawing names and have a spending cap for gifts. It simply isn't worth the stress and hassle.
I sit back and watch the foolishness behind the black Friday sales and think how silly people can be for consuming themselves with the best bargains. No doubt, I'm all for a good bargain. But, when the crowd acts like it's the running of the bulls in Spain? No, it's not worth it at all. I can wait...

Christmas wasn't anything I dreaded "back in the day" when we participated. But, now, looking back at it I'm sure glad I'm not involved in the chaos anymore (even though I still get plenty of choas interjected unwillingly into my life due to the craziness that ensues nationwide). My parents fought me tooth & nail when we stopped but now say we couldn't drag them back kicking and screaming to go back to what we used to do.

Honestly, I never understood why the hostility and responses ever existed, either way. My children hear about Jesus all the time, regardless of time of year. So their focus around Christmastime (or any holiday for that matter) is pretty well-balanced.
