Indeed. Jesus was dead and in the grave for three days having being beaten, nailed to a cross and pierced through with a sword. He was counted dead by those who came by to break his legs and finish him off and then lay another three days in the ground after that.
He rose from the dead on the third day and was seen of many. Some recognized who he was and others didn't right away but didn't their hurts burn within them when he spoke.
Jesus Christ is risen today Hallelujah.
We serve a risen savior or we have no savior. It's as simple as that.
I personally believe that He did, though I have to admit that I can't prove it empirically. That is where I often find the "apologist" crowd baying at my doorstep. It's a matter of faith. If it did happen, it happened in a manner and involved a force from outside of our measurable and knowable universe.
