Re: I LOVE Verbal Bean...I "get" him!
Rev.Ryan, I believe that I might have been the one to suggest it when you posted in the debate room. I am glad to hear that you like it, and would suggest the following authors: Sis. Nona Freeman, Bro. Lee Stoneking, Sis. Oma Ellis, and Bro. David Bernard.
Bro. Verbal Bean was not the only one to walk in the realms of the Spirit that he discussed, many others have walked in those places also. Many times they are not known as they will not stand out and draw attention to themselves. It can be very difficult to even get them to discuss those things as they want only God to receive the glory. I know of an older lady preacher in Kansas who walks in those places, but it is very hard to get her to say anything about what she has seen. This seems to be a commonality. This might also be the reason that God has been able to use them in that way.

I am sad to say that Bro. Verbal Bean passed away in 1977 in an automobile wreck.

Re: I LOVE Verbal Bean...I "get" him!
No problem. I am glad that you enjoyed the book. I would also highly recomend his teachings on prayer. They were the lessons he taught just before teaching on the works of the Holy Ghost. There is a website that I enjoy listening to and has a couple of messages by him. However, because they were preached in the 1950s, the quality of the recording is not nearly as good as what we have to day, but worth the listen. Make sure you have about 1.5 hours to dedicate to listening as it will take your full attention to hear what is said. The website is http://www.apostolicclassics.com/sermons.html. There are also other great preachers there with messages that cover several decades, and are from UPCI, AMF, or WPF preachers. There is even a message that was preached by Sis. Nona Freeman there.

Re: I LOVE Verbal Bean...I "get" him!
I have to admit the first few times I heard his name, Verbal Bean, I thought it was a joke name.
You know, like Naughtius Maximus, or Sillius Soddus, or Biggus........

Re: I LOVE Verbal Bean...I "get" him!
Jay, THANKS for the link. I didn't realize they had sermons you could listen to without buying. I ordered one, and the sound is horrible. To be honest, I did not want to offend anyone, but that is why I was hoping that people might be willing to "pass on" their old tapes gathering dust. Probably a lot of gold in them, but I hate to buy something that you really can't hear. I don't mind helping with shipping or giving a "donation" for a lot of tapes, but otherwise...
Yes, the Verbal book on the Holy Ghost is EXCEPTIONAL. I will get the prayer book as I am able-got hours cut at work, but...
Thanks again!

I do agree, the name is very interesting.

Re: I LOVE Verbal Bean...I "get" him!
There were probably some good reasons for that. Bro. E.L. Freeman, Sis. Nona Freeman's husband, used his initials or went by Bug. I do not know the origin of the nickname, but I do know that he disliked using the name that he was born with. For some men, it possibly also felt more formal, or what have you. More were known by their first and last name, as is common for most people. But I have seen what you are talking about as well.

My side, my face. That made me laugh, and I still have a big goofy grin on my face.
The only difference is that Bro. Verbal Bean was the real thing, and Oral Roberts wished that he could be.
