Re: Just a thought.

Houston and I are just a few miles apart I think.

My cow message board did this... well we've done a bunch of meet-ups. Us Texans had about 40 at ours with tons of fresh homemade pot luck style food and we had a milk tasting contest with 8 different breeds of cows and 6 breeds of goats. I won the cows, so you know the ice-cream will be delish. We didn't host but we did bring the cow for everyone to try milking that was just wanting to get into it. It was so much fun.

The chicken folks from Backyard Chickens do one every year too. The nicest folks host (same ones every time). They have a huge place in the country. The farm is 33 acres but my little 1931 farm house will not hold a huge crowd. As long as the weather is nice there is plenty to do. Horseback riding, horse shoes, we have a basketball court/goal thingy. Fishing, rocking on the porch, a sandbox and tire swings for the kids, a shooting range... hiking in the woods. Well maybe some folks would be really bored with all that kind of stuff... No TV or video games... but it keeps me entertained

Oh and my favorite thing... on cool nights we build a camp fire. Don plays guitar and I play harmonica and we sing and roast weenies and marshmallows.

Be quicker to build a brush arbor This is the country, we have lots of twigs and sticks. Ya know Houston, even if nobody else makes it out you live so close you ought to drop by sometime.

Re: Just a thought.

Over the years I have met dozens of AFF (and prior forums) posters - always a fun experience. There have also been a couple reunion of sorts, but I never made one of those.

I would like to meet you whenever we can arrange it Jay...

Re: Just a thought.

I think that this is something that we ought to start planning now, so that everyone can budget for it. Perhaps around June/July of next year Everyone possible, and near perfect weather for a get together.

Re: Just a thought.

That sounds like a great place to meet. Can you imagine if enough of us walked in there? We would to be there very early considering the number of people they would be having to get in.
