TY! That cake looks so good--I love fruit with cake. My Mom made Pineapple Upside-Down cake today--it's my favorite.

I am so glad you liked it (thought it was pretty and festive) because, I can't stand cake and fruit together. Ick - soggy bread is nasty. It reminds me of when we used to feed little birds so they wouldn't die. Okay, getting ready for dinner.

Soggy bread? That's what whipped cream and frosting are for! Protect the cake! I guess I have a thing about fruity cake (while conversely HATING fruitcake.)

My other favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake--the way my sister makes it. She makes it with homemade biscuits, whipped cream (NOT cool whip--gah!)--and it is SO delicious.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Once you slice it, the juice runs down and gets all drippy and soggy and icky. At that point, the whipped cream and frosting is not going to help. lol

And I'm with you, I can't stand fruitcake.

I'm making this dessert for Easter. Paula Deen! Get that diabetes working! My husband loves this kind of stuff.
