Re: What is up with the different spellings of Jes
Hey, why are you worried about the different spellings of Jesus. Very little else on AFF is speelled right!!! For instance.... how many folks have misspelled "altar" by spelling it "alter?"
Yes! I am aware we are talking about different things. I'm not that stupid!

Re: What is up with the different spellings of Jes
believe it or not, there are folks out there that take themselves very seriously.
some of them believe that if you call him Jesus, you believe in ANOTHER GOD. They think you have to have the spelling right and the hebrew pronunciation right or you got the wrong god.
im not sure how using english spelling for Yashua qualifies them.... but...err... never let facts get in the way with sending people to hell huh?
LOL.

I wonder what the Klingon word for Jesus is.... And if you were to be baptized in that name, would it count?

If "JESUS" was good enough for Paul and Silas, it's good enough for me.

That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues .
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

I might add that the "s" at the end of Iesous is added by Greek grammer rules. The name in Greek would be Iesou pronounced as Yay soo.
I have read that when Tyndale translated his original English from Greek version he dropped the "s" as did the next several early English versions.
They were using Yesu pronounced as Yay soo.
The name Jesus was not known in those days.
