It is not a popular doctrine because our flesh doesn't like it. But if we want to leave pleasing, overcoming lives, then our will must be surrendered to the Lord.

There is a price to pay for an overcoming life walking with the Lord, but eternal life is definitely worth that price!

Re: What Happened To Denying Self?

Most Christians today are indulging too much in the so-called prosperity message to deny themselves too much of anything.

Re: What Happened To Denying Self?

So if those who "crucify" or deny themselves belong to Christ where does that leave those who dont?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, 5:23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 5:24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. Gal. 5:22-24

Re: What Happened To Denying Self?

This thread made me think of this song:

I Surrender All

All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live.

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my bless'd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!

“Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be My disciple. (Luke 14:33)
