God evidently was confused.

I am not personally crazy about the angel. But we don't even have a steeple or a cross. However God did tell Moses to have them on the Mercy Seat which was in the tabernacle and temple.

Not one angel, but TWO angels on the mercy seat. What was God thinking! Surely Moses knew "Anywhere you see a focus on angels like you see there you will also see idolitry and sexual perversion".

As usual I will take Brother Holmes side...I think that is HIS business....our churches here do not have crosses or angles...a few have a painted golden candlestick or something like that...It is a wonderful church and Brother Holmes is a wonderful man...I went to school with him and his sisters...I have known them all my life... They have been good to home missions, foreign missions and people from all walks of life...unless you do more it might be better just to pray for them. We really hurt the cause of Christ saying things like this on a world wide forum...

1Ch 22:8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
1Ch 22:9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
1Ch 22:10 He shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.
1Ch 22:11 Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.

Solomon echoed those words also.

1Ki 8:18 And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build a house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart.
1Ki 8:19 Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.
1Ki 8:20 And the LORD hath performed his word that he spoke, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

But what God did say was this.

1Ki 5:5 And, behold, I purpose to build a house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build a house unto my name.

We see this fulfilled in Matthew 1:1

Mat 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

The Temple Jesus Built was His Body, the Church.

Joh 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Joh 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
Joh 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Paul wrote,

1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Again, men build temples, God builds Tabernacles.
Say WHAT????

Of all the things that I have read of late around here, this has got to be the worse and most dangerous thing I have read. When a man starts degrading the Word, then there is no stopping place. MAYBE Moses "misinterpreted the Word of God" with Deut. 6:4 and Peter "misinterpreted the Word of God" in Acts 2:38. And the list goes on and on.

Sadly, as I have seen in the past several months, that is becoming common place. From someone who used to be sandy, stand firm on The Rock of Christ people. His Word is eternal, and His truth is indeed everlasting.
