I took his post as a clearification post to all the mis-information that is out there that these men are attempting to get everybody possible to the meeting and that there is great hatered or anger toward the UPCI......I appears to me that this meeting is only for the cause of looking at options or the next step....that can be done in a Christ Centered attitude.

A man can leave without having a BAD SPIRIT can he not......... I mean after all the few who have left because the "Mother Ship" was so far behind the times and in bondage and so forth and so on left in a good spirit.......did they not? ......... if these men choose to leave for the reason that they feel the UPCI is headed down a road that they do not feel to go, lets let them also leave with a good spirit.........

I know almost every man who is helping put this meeting together......Most of them personally....they are good men, I hate to see them go.......but I still expect to fellowship them, I still expect to go to heaven with them, I hope to have some of them come and minister........Just because we are not all in the same organization does not mean that everyone who is not with us is headed to hell........I respect each minister of the gospel even if we do not agree on every point - as a matter of fact I cannot think of two ministers who agree on every point - unless one is a little clone who has no ability to think on his own.......

Sorry to ramble........anyway, re-read the first post - I think we might be seeing words put in Steadfast mouth that were never there.....and God forbid we know that NEVER happens on AFF......... ROFL.........

God bless

I didn't disagree with his post concerning the "spirit" of those conducting the meeting... I think it will be civil... and I personally think there will be unrest and come confusing going in....a lot of these guys have their way or the highway and it's hard for some of them to agree with anything....

For all the talk about 'recruiting' and 'stealing members' and 'unethical' that abounds I have to tell you that this isn't the spirit of the coordinators at all! They are kind gentlemen that are simply providing a grass roots meeting to discuss what steps to take to maintain an Apostolic atmosphere without the diminishing of Apostolic distinctives.

I spent several days with them and - AMAZINGLY - not one time did they ask me to come to the meeting (I'm personal friends with most of the names on the mail out and have never been asked or recruited to come) or to drag others with me if I should decide to go.

We had several candid conversations about recent events and I asked the coordinator point blank if the meeting was going to be a 'preaching' type meeting, a bloodbath or what... only to be told that what they want to do is NOTHING that would require anybody to leave the UPC. They simply want to talk options, hear suggestions and reiterate our goals as Apostolics.

I know this will seriously upset some people to know that it will neither be a...
  • Gripe session
  • UPC bashing meeting
  • Flashback to the vicious splits of days gone by or
  • A 'let's march out and make a statement' type meeting.

It's a meeting to gather suggestions and find a way to network men together who have begun to lose faith in the direction the Apostolic movement as a whole is going.

And, for what it's worth, I've talked to many who are involved or going to this meeting and have yet to hear any viciousness in their voices. Just a little sadness for the most part.

Thus, what most have surmised, heard gossiped about or interjected their own fabrications about... simply isn't true.
Steadfast,

I have never felt like this meeting would be one with the animosity and bitterness that characterized the last big conservative uprising within the UPC.

As I posted yesterday on another thread many of these men organizing this meeting are seasoned mature preachers with reputations of integrity.

I do think it is not accurate to say that this meeting is not to chart a path forward that most likely includes these men leaving the UPC for whatever organization they plant the seeds for at this meeting. That is reality.

It is not that these men are having this meeting to pull men away from the UPC but rather that this meeting is to accomodate those men who are already pulling away from the UPC over these disagreements over "direction".
