Not very big...it could not break 100 adults...if you counted all the kids it was a lot bigger...it was probably a consistent 75 or less! Sometimes more, but so many came in and left again after such a short time...it had a revolving front door!

Are you saying that the inner circle included your pastor and pastor's wife and that they gossiped with the people? What do you mean by the "best" gossip?

I didn't know there was good gossip.

These terrible people probably would love to know how many thousands of words have been devoted to chronicling the depth of their depravity and evil.
I would just like to remind all and sundry that the testimony of backsliders is generally very slanted at best.
I know that isn't popular with the "Kill the Preacher" crowd, but it is true nonetheless.
All the info is coming from a pretty narrow source, and the pastor has no voice here.

The experiences I had with this (not in the UPC or anything otherwise remotely related) did not include the pastor or their family. "The inner circle" was made up of those who were considered the pastor's closest friends. In one of the churches I was involved in, only those in the inner circle could even contact the pastor directly. Anyone else in the church had to go through the inner circle and the questions, concerns, or requests for appointments were passed on to the pastor that way. Gossip did happen, some of it quite harsh. It's part of why I didn't stay in that church for very long after being granted entrance into the "inner circle". It was just ugly and I figured if it was ugly that close to the pastor, the whole make up of the church was ugly.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message
