Re: Anyone heard of Bishop "JABO" Green?

Someone asked if Jabo green left the UPC at the same time as Mark Hanby. While i am not personally acquainted with either, I believe Hanby left in the late 70's while Green
departed in the mid nineties.

Hanby actually left the UPC around 1981 or 62.

Jabo Green left when GLobal Ministries started picking up around 1996 or so.

My in-laws moved from Milwaukee where they attended Parkway Apostolic Church in Oak Creek.

In the middle part of 2008.

My father-in-laws brother is Frank Tamel the founder of Parkway.

They have been attending Jabo Green's church in Spring, TX and they love it...

Wow, quite a span in the Hanby estimate - 19 years!! LOL!!!

I believe Jabo left before 1996 and closer to the time the affirmation statement passed in 1992. He actually formed one of the two org.'s that later merged to become GNCM. L.H. Hardwick had formed the other one some years before. I believe the 1996 date may be more the date of the two org.'s merging to become GNCM than the date Jabo left the UPC. I could be wrong of course. According to my wife and Coonskinner I often am.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I meant 82. That did make me laugh...

Not sure how I hit the 6 over the 8.

I think you are most likely right on the timing of Green leaving around the adopting of the AS.

He is mentioned in Thomas Fudges book on page 258 as a dissenter from the Westberg resolution.

So he must have left just after the GC when the AS was adopted.

He did, shortly therefore.

Great church in Spring, still growing under his son.

They are doing a Gospel production of Scrooge in a couple weeks.
