It could have been a pre-release on iTunes????
I didn't understand the article either - it says it's already a #1 seller - how could that be? It was anticipated to be?

I understand that best-seller list do include expectations as well as actual sells, and that includes the book industry as well. Maybe that's it.

Re: Adam Lambert
Excerpts from news article about the CBS interview:
Quote:
The glam rocker from "American Idol" said on "The Early Show" that his performance would not have caused as much controversy if he weren't openly gay. He also said there were other "adult" moments on the show that caused no outrage.
"I admit I did get carried away, but I don't see anything wrong with it," he said Wednesday. "I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it."
|
Here comes the cry of "victim." The other moments of the show didn't include actions of oral sex and a homosexual kiss.
Quote:
|
Lambert admitted he didn't rehearse some of the more risque elements of his award show performance -- a point that particularly upset ABC, which said it was taken by surprise by what he did. In the future, he said he'd try to get these issues cleared before the show.
|
One reason, listed in another place in this article, ABC cancelled his morning performance was because they "couldn't trust him."
Quote:
But he noted that Lady Gaga smashed whiskey bottles during her performance, Eminem rapped about rape and Janet Jackson briefly groped a male dancer.
"Janet Jackson, crotch grab," he said. "I haven't heard one peep about that."
He said that "if it had been a female pop performer doing (his) moves that were on the stage, I don't think there would be nearly as much of an outrage."
|
I somewhat agree here. I didn't see Gaga or Eminem, but I did see Jackson's opening performance - and she did do a crotch grab. However, you can't compare Gaga's whiskey bottles, Eminem's lyrics and Jackson's grab to his oral sex routine and homosexual kiss.
Quote:
|
"I think it's because I'm a gay male," he added.
|
I'd agree again here. He's right about criticism being because it was a homosexual act (grabbing male dancer and thrusting crotch in face as though performing oral sex; kissing male keyboardist). I don't like and don't promote lewd performances, but I would rather keep it hetero than homo. I'd have less of an issue if he were a straight man kissing a woman or doing other things during his performance with a woman. Don't agree with it, wouldn't watch it, but it would be better.
Quote:
Offered a chance to apologize, he declined. He said he didn't consider that there may have been children watching because his American Music Awards performance came at nearly 11 p.m., and that it's a parent's job to monitor what their children are watching on TV.
"I'm not a baby sitter," he said. "I'm a performer."
|
Yah, okay. It is the parents responsibility to monitor their child and watch what they allow the children to view. True. But regardless, the performance was raunchy. It was disgusting. It was a punch in the face to the majority of americans who don't agree with the gay lifestyle. He wanted to make a statement, and he did it.
Quote:
|
Asked what he'd do differently if he had the chance, Lambert said, "I would sing it a little bit better."
|
At least his fans can have something to look forward to.
To sum it up, he's playing the victim card. He's a gay performer who's been unfairly singled out, while he feels others (hetero) got a pass.

I agree with him that others should have been excoriated. But they didn't simulate sexual acts and they didn't commit sexual assault against one of their band members. The entire show should have been scrapped. It was awful, both in skill and in the obnoxious display of depravity.
If Adam had sung like that on American Idol, he wouldn't have made it through the audition stage.

This person doesn't list a source, and is a die-hard Lambert fan. I'd question where the information is coming from....
Currently on Amazon.com it dropped from 5th to 6th today. It's listed #3 on iTunes up one spot from earlier.
The article HERE says the album is #1 in rock and #5 in pop.
Billboard's Top 200 and Hot 100 aren't working on my work computer, so I can't see those.
I would assume that the album would sell well at first, then decline. MP3 downloads of singles will probably sell more than the whole album.

We agree!
I was at my in-laws and only saw up to when Rhianna was performing, and I was really disappointed. For having the big names perform like they did (Janet, Black Eyed Peas, Rhianna, Jay Z, Keith Urban), with the exception of Urban and Jay Z/Alicia Keys, the performances and singing of the others were terrible.
And you're right, if Adam would've tried any of that or sounded like that during the show, he wouldn't have made it to the finals.

Re: Adam Lambert
I just wanted to say...
That wasn't a 'kiss'.
That was a make-out session!
I think it's a bit ridiculous for him to compare what the female performers have done in the past with what he did to that keyboardist.

HA! I can't stand him - never COULD stand him.
I read it on OMG.com and it was just the single that was #84 - not his album. I've tried to find the link, but they change their articles daily and it's not there.
Please.
