I've counseled young guys through tough issues and saw some trends -- this being one of them. Sexuality, sexual temptation, etc not being discussed in the household. We'd rather surrender that topic to the world to define, paint a picture, and let the household and church house be silent.
Mistakes can be the end, and the beginning of what feels like hopelessness for some of these kids when they feel isolated with their issues.
I'm not a religiosity promoter. That's not even close to what I'm saying here.
