Re: UPC Culture

Too many cliche's and not enough substance it seems. There are a ton of those out there. "lead people to the Lord" is on that I never understood. God draws us to Himself, we can not acutally lead someone to Christ. We can lead them to church and Christ mets them there and there is a change made that is what happens, but no one can lead someone to Christ.

"witnessing" was always code for "shared Acts 2:38". Oh yes, women were said to be a "witness" because of their uncut hair....
(Almost) never about acting like a Christian around someone.

Re: UPC Culture

"I'm glad I know who Jesus REALLY is..."

"GAwwwwd whaaatever it taaaakes..."

It has been said before but a person's entire spritual walk can be summed up by a three word question... Is he/she "in church"?

It tells whether you tithe, if you qualify for singing in the choir, if you go to men's work day, if you are called brother or just by your first name...

I like the others that have been said, because if you are not "in church" you can "pray through"

"Seekers" and "lingerers" Those who are not serious or who have sin in their life and usually stand at the front the fellas holding up their hands screaming in their ear and it is a race if their hands fall asleep before they do...

Re: UPC Culture

I got together with a group of friends, some of whom were in UPCI, some who are in UPCI, some who never heard of UPCI. The one who had never heard of UPCI started laughing...she said, "You can tell who of you were in that organization because you start spouting off names and places and can trace people back 30 and 40 years." She then asked if we were all related!!!!

The truth is, UPCI is such a small, tight knit community that we all know who is known for what, been where, is now doing what, who is backslid, who is "Postolic", who is Charismatic, and who is just plain reprobate.

When I come out with my King James terms...people look at me like I am from a different planet! Thank God for NIV!

Blessings, Rhoni
