Re: Steve Munsey History
I have heard several people speak about him using the word, "weird." He does seem a little off the wall. Any thoughts regarding that? I saw him raising monies for Paula White using OT temple props.

Re: Steve Munsey History
Steve is very creative and an expert on pop culture.
He has always been cutting edge in using new technologies in ministry. I was amazed to see that his pulpit is made from flat screen video monitors! He is brave enough to try things like that!
Speaking of creativity, I heard he preached an entire sermon from inside a casket that was rolled up to the front of the church. At the end where he preached about the dead in Christ rising, the casket popped open and he climbs out still preaching! I think it scared the folks half to death!

Re: Steve Munsey History
in 1972 late summer, steve preached a revival in pensacola, florida, bro welchs church, i met him then, i was 11, he was very dramatic and only 19, he has gotten nuts with the prosperity gospel or other things lately, what a shame, dt

Wow! One has to keep in mind that there are two sides to every story. From your view it looks pretty bleak!

Ok. Maybe so. I do know that GZ went on a sabbatical and came back and Steve and his buddy had taken over the church he had built. My wife attended that church at the time and I've heard the story from the inside. It was your basic manipulate the church board and power grab while the pastor is having a tough personal time. A real, 'kick 'em while they're down' moment. Z's family was DEEPLY hurt by Steve Munsey.
I wonder if Steve's father would corroborate this pattern of Steve's behavior?

I'm not saying that it didn't happen as you say. I'm just wondering what SM's motivation was! Maybe he thought the church was really bogged down and needed a shot of optimism and aggressiveness. (I don't know the situation. I'm just trying to surmise what SM was thinking!)

I hear ya. Assuming the church was suffering (and it wasn't, it was growing) I gotta wonder though what business it was of his to do something about it? He wasn't a member of that church. He was an outsider who came in and engineered a coup. The pastor allowed him to use his giftedness in the area of drama in the church and Steve used this foothold to boot the pastor out at a time when the pastor was going through a time of personal struggle (as all pastor's do from time to time). As a minister I have a real problem with a fellow 'minister' who will stoop to this sort of behavior. Ironically, that church never really grew after that and recently merged with another church and effectively no longer exists. Hurray for Steve Munsey and his visionary leadership! What a tragedy, imo. As I said, he did something similar when he 'took over' his Dad's church too.

I did hear some things about when Steve took over his dad's church. Not good!

Yeah, I know. "Took over" is right, huh?
I'd better shut my trap before Admin gets mad and censors me.

Re: Steve Munsey History
I don´t remember much about that time however let´s not forget the good Frank and Ruth did. Many times people´s children do things the parents do not agree with but have little control.
Does anyone remember Francis and Eva Munsey?
