Please don't feel too bad Scott. In spite of the materialistic fashion I started this thread, I am acutely aware that the best gifts are not in a package. Hold those you love close and thank God for keeping you safe and warm.
Wind chills are below zero as I write this - and I am off to tuck the kids into warm beds. Thank you Jesus!

NO! lol I got her to knock a $100 off the painting though.
Don't say, "Why didn't she give it to you for Christmas?" You don't ask an artist to give you their work. I bought it for myself.

Oh I see. I was really only asking if it will be mounted on a stretcher or if you will matte and frame it for display.
It is a beautiful piece of work for sure.

I thank you for her! I love that style of painting.
Yes, I will matte and frame it for display. I'm supposed to pick it up mid-January at a wedding. She told me not to buy a frame until I have the picture in hand.
She took a photo of that fountain in San Antonio. It has brass birds flying around the fountain. My mother went to school there growing up, so that is the significance of the painting. She said she was honored I would love her piece. I was honored she sold it to me!

Re: Share Your Christmas Gifts!
My daughter and her husband really surprised me with something different this year.
She got me brunch at the Peabody (on my birthday Jan 11) with my dad and his wife and then tickets for us to the Home & Garden Show. She said she didn't want me to be alone on my birthday - - wasn't that sweet?

Re: Share Your Christmas Gifts!
The church gave me a huge basket with goodies in it. A really nice one from the napa wine country.
My Brother and mother went and opened it and ate all the chocolates out of it
