Re: Tornadoes in Arkansas and Tennessee

I just found out that the two people killed by a tornado in my town were a mother and her 3 month old baby girl. I don't know them but I know their family is in a lot of pain tonight so please pray for them.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Is this the start of tornado season, & do they feel it will be a bad one?

Ron's it's usually the worst part of tornado season here and in Oklahoma in April and May. The afternoon heating often helps to feed the super cells as they form.

The town in Arkansas, Mena, is about an hour due south of me. I watched that cell on the radar come in from eastern Oklahoma on TV. It was the southernmost tip of the cell and that's where a lot of the tornado's form. The weather guy said it had 3 inch hail and 100mph wins before it got to the Arkansas line and I just had a sick feeling my stomach. I told my wife at the time that it was probably going to spin a tornado.

An hour later I was talking to a friend of mine who was driving through Mena at the time and he told me it was going to be really bad. He felt like he was lucky to be alive after going through the wind and hail and seeing the electric lines snapped.

Some of the pictures today have been amazing with houses lifted off of their foundation and buses and huge RV's flipped like toy cars.

Re: Tornadoes in Arkansas and Tennessee

The UPC in Mena is located toward the west side of town, which was "part" of the area of quite a bit of damage. If anyone has any information on the church, I would love to know. I used to visit during the short time I lived there. I hope everyone's okay. The pastor and his wife were also living in an area near downtown. Again, I hope everyone is okay.
