Of course there are degrees of sin. There are sins like homosexuality, murder, rape, incest.

Then there are serious sins like trimming hair, watching TV, and the granddaddy of them all, not paying tithes.

Then there is the gravest ... not obeying your pastor ... because he's accountable for your soul.

True, rebellion the sin of ole slewfoot himself. And what is a pastor for it not to explain the will of God to you?

I have known more than one pastor who would preach that as the unpardonable.

Re: Levels of sin

When the Lord turns one over to a reprobate mind.. that would be a different level of sin.

And when he hardened Pharaohs heart... that.. imo.. is a worse level.

All the punishment may be.. I say may be.. the same, but some actions people do or don't do causes the Lord to react more hostile towards. Just like certain crimes/sins we as a society act more hostile towards.

I do appreciate all the good input.

Re: Levels of sin

Sin is sin, but... there are definitely different levels of consequences that we suffer. Parking in a no parking zone will get us a ticket. Committing adultery can destroy our lives and the lives of others. Both wrong, but definitely different levels of consequences.

Re: Levels of sin

Are there levels of sin?

I dunno.

Paul said he was the chiefest of sinners. He probably wasn't bragging about it but he seemed to think there were certain levels one of which he alone attained.

Do you think he meant before or after he believed?

Talking about sin in Romans he confessed in the present tense, "that I would not do, that I do...."

Don't take me seriously here.

He was speaking of the motives of the uncrucified flesh and the law of sin which remains in everyone who will yield to the dictates of the flesh.
