As well they should!
I have a feeling my area will get less than 3 inches. This, after they scared the living daylights out of everyone over the past few days.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it wasn't as bad as they predicted, I just think they should be held accountable for their ratings driven fear-mongering.

All the reports I am seeing show that the bad reports in many areas will not be seen but all the worst part is headed for MO.
Watch out Hoovie... it's headed your way.

Err on the side of caution. If they hadn't of warned everyone and it was the Blizzard of 2011 and lives were lost because they didn't take precaution, then they would be held accountable for that.
It's the weather - - it's unpredictable. However, with all the ingredients they know, it did/does look like the perfect storm. AND....it's not over yet.

We only got about an inch of snow, but our high is supposed to be -2. Normal for some of you, I know, but really cold for us, so all schools closed. The sun is shining brightly, but it's frigid.

I totally disagree.
They do this all of the time. I believe they purposefully inflate the numbers to drive media ratings.
All of St. Louis is closed because of a minor snowstorm.

Are you talking of your local stations or The Weather Channel?

Re: Record snow storm in the works Feb. 1st
Hmmm...well, it's major where we are, and we already have more than the minimum predicted, with drifts 3-4' deep. It'll be interesting to see how deep it is when it finally stops. No ice, though--thank goodness.
The girls sprinkled birdseed on the front porch and back patio, so the birds have been fun to watch. The cows are huddled up against the barn--they can't actually get in, poor things--I guess they'll be okay. (They're not ours.)
I'm going to venture out in about 30 minutes and take some pictures.

It's not just your local stations. They were covering it last night too.

Hmm...
There's a theological lesson here.
