That's about the best answer we as humans have here, it has already been expressed, and I grew up with it. I'd like you to now consider that Satan has already been defeated in this age, and was defeated in the previous earth age, and has not suddenly gotten stupid. satan knows that he can't defeat God, but only some of His children, and only for a while, because no one can live on bad fruit.
I'm still working this out, as it just recently came to me, but the past couple days (lacking Scripture to refute it, for one) have convinced me more that satan will do anything to keep "Armageddon" at bay, and discussions with Timmy have solidified for me the reason for the ambiguous nature of some of Scripture--I believe satan pores over Scripture, looking for meanings, but lacking discernment, can only read conundrum and conflict.
