I'm so sorry to hear about your loss Jay. I had an 88 pound shepherd mix named Gracie for about 5 years. She was given to us by an owner that just couldn't take care of her any more. Gracie was precious, loving, loyal, intelligent, and kind. Her love was absolutely unconditional. She became very sick and we had to put her down. We had her cremated and I have her in an nice wooden urn with a placard on it dedicated to her memory. I truly miss her and think about her a lot.
I believe that I'll see her again. Here are some excellent books to read on the subject of Heaven. One is focused on animals. The other is a very thorough theological work about Heaven that happens to have a section on animals. I was greatly encouraged by these authors.

I have always wondered if God would allow us to see our beloved pets again someday? Heaven will surely be a wonderous Home and I can't imagine there not being animals of every sort that he created, there. I enjoy thinking that maybe each of our mansions will have every pet that we ever had greeting us at the door when we walk in!
Did the writer back that
up with scriptures?
Just asking.
Yes. It's an interesting take on it.
All I know is that Jesus comes back on a white horse. If there are no animals in Heaven... where'd that horse come from???
And Elijah was taken up in a fiery chariot. Where'd those horses come from???
Remember... there is an intermediate Heaven. And in the end... God will "make all things new" in a New Heavens and a New Earth. We read that...
Romans 8:21-23
King James Version (KJV)
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
All of creation groaneth and travaileth for the New Heavens and the New Earth... even my Gracie.

That's one angle on it.
How does that "angle" work in light of verse 21? How is an animal delivered and turned into a child of God?
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
I did read some of these "heaven" books
and noticed the presence of animals.
But you know how it goes.......
some people want everything to be "scriptural".....
True... but could there be a new heaven and a new earth without animals, forests, jungles, deserts, oceans, snow capped mountains, gleaming cities, learning, loving, etc., etc.?
In my mind... the whole cosmos will be resurrected from the curse. Satan will have won nothing and creation will be restored to its Edenic purity.

The New Living Translation renders it as saying...
Romans 8:20-21
New Living Translation (NLT)
20 Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.
ESV (formally equivalent translation) renders it as saying:
Romans 8:20-21
English Standard Version (ESV)
20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
