You didn't quote me so I have to assume you are replying to me but you missec my point.
Everyone is going to be subjective when they say someone elses view is acrobatics and not simple

Re: Scriptural Acrobats
Who is a "Scriptural Acrobat?"
A person that bases their belief, on cherry-picked scriptures, without considering that what they are teaching is contradicting other scriptures. Not teaching sound doctrine.
What is the opposite? Study to show thyself approved. And harmonize the scriptures. And by harmonizing, you do have to know your Bible from Genesis to Revelations.
Quote:
Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
|
Quote:
|
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
|
They didn't swallow what they were told, just because it was popular or some popular preacher, preached it, they “ searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
So now people have a new swing to swing on, “You don't believe as I do, so you're doing acrobats with the scriptures.” It doesn't matter that what they are saying contradicts other scriptures. So and so said it, so they believe it.

Re: Scriptural Acrobats
Brother Praxeas,
I was just giving you a little grief. We had this conversation before.
I got your point. But I wanted the last word this time.
Yeah, I don't know how to quote yet!?!? I am really new here. I don't know if I mentioned that before.

I know, I know how can you read a book by Hank? Well a broken clock is right twice a day, And if the Lord could use a donkey to speak in the Old Testament then He can use Hank.
Anyway Hank described how many dispensationalist go through a Scriptural Acrobatic routine to prove their point.
This really struck me. Shouldn't we be able to explain what we believe without power points and pie charts?
So my question is!
What doctrines do you think people come up with by forcing the scriptures to say something the do not?
|
That Jesus is His own daddy while at the same time being His own Son who's His own daddy.....who's His own Son. He's a contortionist in an acrobatic world.
That another man must intone specific words while immersing you or you will not be saved.
Stuff like that.

You're going to have joy unspeakable then.
Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Puzzling, to some, they're even going to be standing before the Lamb.

Yeah, but you'll need convoluted explanations on how to do that...
