Re: When a futurist says he will pay you back soon

Again, should we tell folks that Jesus "metaphorized', or simply made comparisons(types).

Even futurist say Jesus "metaphorized" in some instances.

I think the verbage we use is improper.

Re: When a futurist says he will pay you back soon

The definition of a metaphor has slight, lying implication....

met·a·phor
ˈmedəˌfôr,ˈmedəˌfər/
noun
a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
"“I had fallen through a trapdoor of depression,” said Mark, who was fond of theatrical metaphors"
synonyms: figure of speech, image, trope, analogy, comparison, symbol, word painting/picture
"the profusion of metaphors in her everyday speech has gotten pretty tiresome"
a thing regarded as representative or symbolic of something else, especially something abstract.

Use of metaphors in the Bible, creates OPEN ENDED assertions in Biblical language, which open doors to multiple opinions, rather than one visible truth.

Calling the Bible metaphoric, creates multiple belief systems(as we clearly see today).

Case in point....

The Bible says that hell is real.

If a man thinks hell is NOT real, then he simply says the verses of hell in the Bible are "METAPHORICAL" in nature.

The underground railroad was a metaphoric term for something else.

The slave owners saw it as a lie(deception).(It was not a railroad at all, but a system to rescue slaves)

Really?

Where are you getting this information that the slave owners were focused on the term not being literally for a subway? Sean, you make it up as you go along. It must be gut splitting hilarious to see you square off with anyone who opposes your baloney. I believe you would meltdown in 15 minutes in a one on one. The stuff you post is down right farcical.

Re: When a futurist says he will pay you back soon

Another example of both futurists and preterists metaphorizing(misrepresenting) the Bible....

Hebrews 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

This passage is written to future Israel only.

However, both futurists AND preterists think this is "METAPHORICALLY" written to the church.

This is a "metaphoric" lie.

It only speaks of future Israel, quoting Jeremiah 31.
