Mat 24:37 As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Mat 24:38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark,
Mat 24:39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Mat 24:40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.
Mat 24:41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.
Mat 24:42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.

Let's look again at the flood and what really happened folks. Noah and his family were lifted UP above the flood while the rest of humanity was swept away by the flood.

The devil is in the details.

Whatever happened to the notion of keeping your heart right with God and working for the Kingdom and not wasting so much time arguing and debating the finer points of such things?

Raven very interesting thread thank you!

Off topic a bit but I have to share since it was brought up in your first post. Yep as a child our pastor would show the movies I dont remember the names of them now but I think there were 3 of them in the series about being left behind. One night I had been at our church school late for some activity and my friends brought me home. I was maybe 9 and came in the house... mom and dad were never out that late!!! But they werent home!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the drama! Thank God half of our neighborhood came to our church because I went running and banging on everyones door in a horrified panic thinking I had been left behind!

Heavens help us!! Ms Millie even missed it!!!!!! The most super spiritual lady in our church was home!!!!!!!!! Once I got to her house and realized she wasnt gone I was ok!!! Sad but yet funny!

Bro. OPCarl,

I certainly agree that we should always endeavor by His grace

and mercy to keep our heart right with God at all times. While working

for the Kingdom it is important to not disregard part of the scriptures

just because we don't understand it. Could it be that is why we don't

have a better understanding of some of these scriptures. Do we close

our minds to what we don't understand instead of at least being willing

to listen to other thoughts on the subject. How many people could

possibly be in prison today because "part of the evidence was not

allowed. If all the pieces of evidence is not allowed in a trial, you are

not going to have a true picture in which the jury can decide fairly.

Try putting a puzzle together and half the pieces be lost. Don't expect

it to resemble that pretty picture on the box it came in.

It has always concerned me about that brother in South Texas that

put out a booklet on prophesy, and presented some of these same

questions. If I understood correctly it was made available to all of

the apostolic brethren in the UPC plus other apostolic ministers, as

the number mailed out was more that all the ministry in the UPC. It

was told that it cost almost one hundred thousand dollars to put out

and was done at the expense of this brother and the church he

pastored or pastors. If I understood correctly, he is no longer in the

UPC. When we kick out something that is presented as truth without

knowing of a surety that it is error, how many souls can be expect to

be accountable for. Why would anyone want to (and I don't think this

was a huge church) spend that much money to promote something

they didn't feel was truth.

I know my late father and mother and the church they founded

(beginning with their own family of eleven children, the youngest

being less than one year at the time) sacrificed like you wouldn't

believe, to MAKE SURE the truths they had found and obeyed was

not hindered. If you want to make sure your family is safe, CONNECT

with GOD (Spirit) and take care of your own. Let God lead you and

direct you into ALL TRUTH. His Word says He will. If you will, I will,

Why did Noah spend 120 years building an Ark when he had never

seen it rain. Were there any naysayers discouraging him. WHO did HE

CHOOSE to believe! Man or GOD!!! Why did Noah build the Ark. To

the saving of his OWN house. IF you're own believe and follow you,

someone must have done a pretty good job raising them.

This is not to condemn anyone but to say that we had better be

willing to listen to ALL the evidence IF WE are going to be making

the decisions of whether an issue is heresy or not. Could that man

of sin, spoken of in II Thess., be men, standing in the temple,

making decisions as if they were speaking for God, when it is possi-

ble it is not God at all. Making decisions about things they do not

even understand but because of position, are able to do so. It is a

fearful thing to fall into the HANDS of a LIVING GOD!

I am a simple saint and the generation I grew up in was called

"The Silent Generation". Be quiet, listen and learn. Don't ask so

many questions! You weren't allowed to ask many questions.

Then came the generation to question most everything. So

in time I came to realize it is better to listen and learn, so that

when the questions do start, we'll have an answer or at least

be open enough to investigate it and search it out. This should

always be done in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Again, not to be offensive, but to provoke to honest thought!

Blessings,

Falla39

Perhaps it is time to take a new look at some old things. I'm not here to discuss Rapture, Pre- Mid- or Post, but to examin the scripture that was used to propagate the "left behind" doctrine. Are you sure you don't want to be left behind?
Matthew 24:37-41
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark. It is obvious, with some examination, that the ones "taken" are taken in judgment and that Noah was "left" behind. Whatever one believes about the "Rapture", you certainly, from this scripture, want to be left behind!

Raven
Very interesting prespective...and from that view I would say yes I do want to be left behind, but not sure that is what is meant...now you have given me ONE more thing to think about, and my brain might explode!

I remember a discussion with Phillip Dugas about this scripture in the Eschatology Class at CLC, he believed that it referred to those taken at the end of the tribulation where those taken were so because of how they treated the Jews.

Are You Sure You Don't Want To Be Left Behind?

Who was left in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrha! 2 Peter, 2nd

chapter, verses 1-9 would be a good read. In verses 6 and 7, it tells

who was taken out of that wicked city and who was LEFT BEHIND!

What seperated Noah and his family from death and destruction. They

were all in the water but what saved Noah and his family FROM the water

that destroyed the others! Noah's family was "sealed" in the Ark God had

told him to build. Faith in God's Word, obeying God's Word and when the

sign (clouds indicate rain), came they got into the Ark and were taken

up above it all .

God's messengers told righteous Lot to do something. Get out of the

city, Don't look back. Faith and obedience in God's Word payed off when

he got out of the city and didn't look back.

Moses' parents put him in a little ark, and put him in the water. He was

saved from the water because God made a way for the future deliverer

of His people. God will not leave Himself without witness.

Jesus was spared as an infant from death because of his parents

faith and obedience to the angel of the Lord. Joseph heard and obeyed,

took his wife and baby Jesus life was spared. The Deliverer of Israel was

spared once again.

Joseph also was intended to die by the hands of jealous brothers. He

could see things in dreams they were not able to see. Jealousy of Joseph's

dreams and his coat of many colors caused his brothers to want him dead.

They didn't realize the very one they wanted to get rid of, would be to one

God would use to save the nation. But the one or many God uses to deliver

a country, a nation, a family, a church, a movement, will no doubt suffer

for the price of deliverance is not free. Have we counted the cost!

Must Jesus bear the cross alone, and all the world go free;
No there's cross for everyone, and there's a cross for me.

Take up thy cross and follow me, I hear the blessed Savior call,
How can I make a lesser sacrifice, when Jesus gave His ALL!

If we hear His Words and believe and obey them, and continue in

them and follow on to know the Lord, we shall also be safe! When

destruction comes, we will have been "sealed" in from it all. We will

have been prepared BEFORE the destruction. When the messenger

of death comes knocking on our door, just look up, our redemption

is drawing nigh, if so be that the Spirit dwell in you, it shall also

quicken your mortal bodies. When the messenger comes knocking

on your door, it will either be the angel of death or as was the case

of the Hebrews in the OT when the death angel came for those who

would not hear, they were taken. For those who were "sealed" in

by the blood of the lamb, they were LEFT BEHIND!!! Choose life or

death! To those that have been "sealed" they only pass from death

unto life.

Glory to His Name, glory to His Name;
There to my heart was the Blood applied,
Glory to His Name!!

Thank God for the Blood!

Blessings,

Falla39

Noah was lifted up, or giving a route of escape. When it was all said and done, the wicked had been destroyed, and Noah was left on this earth to be fruitful and multiply.. doesn't sound like what happens during the Rapture to me.
